Ethics Statement Climate Justice and Resilience Toolkit

Ethics is the foundation of our work, woven through every action, relationship, and decision. Grounded in humility, respect, and reciprocity, we commit to fostering justice for people and Country. This requires recognising that no work is neutral—each step carries the weight of our identities, intentions, and responsibilities.

We honour the knowledge and authority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, embedding Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) principles in all that we do. Upholding self-determination means ensuring fair remuneration, valuing cultural contributions, and nurturing relationships built on trust and care.

Positionality and Reflexivity

Acknowledging who we are and the privileges we hold is essential. Our positionality shapes how we engage with communities, and we embrace this awareness to centre lived experiences in meaningful ways. Guided by Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR), we seek to dismantle hierarchies, ensuring that marginalised voices lead the way, not as participants but as co-creators of solutions.

Responsibility and Reciprocity

Our work is not only about delivering services or gathering information—it is about creating lasting relationships rooted in respect and accountability. We recognise the importance of giving back to communities, ensuring that the knowledge shared is honoured and that outcomes are accessible and beneficial.

A Commitment to Justice and Care

Ethical practice in Climate Justice is an ongoing journey of learning, listening, and evolving. We strive to uphold the wisdom of those who have cared for these lands for millennia, ensuring that all we do reflects our shared responsibility to heal Country and care for communities. Together, we work towards a just, care-full future where dignity and equity are at the core.
